When to seek immediate medical care
Dizziness and vertigo are usually benign, but they can occasionally be a symptom of something serious. Seek emergency care immediately if dizziness or a spinning sensation is accompanied by: sudden severe headache, slurred speech, double vision, numbness or weakness on one side of the body, difficulty walking, chest pain, or if it follows a head injury. Never wait to see if it passes on its own in these cases.
Talk to a professional before changing anything
If you have been diagnosed with Ménière’s disease, vestibular neuritis, a vestibular migraine, or any other balance disorder, or if you take medication that affects your balance, discuss any change to your routine — exercises, diet, supplements, or a program reviewed on this site — with your doctor or a vestibular-trained physical therapist first.
No guarantee of outcome
Individual results vary. Nothing on this site guarantees that any exercise, habit or program will resolve your symptoms.
